Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, KUET
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mashud is the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), & Project Lead of the SCIP Plastics Project, KUET. Prof. Mashud has been a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of KUET for over 25 years, showcasing exceptional expertise and dedication. He is a distinguished Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering professional. Being passionate about research, he has been involved in multiple research projects and gained extensive knowledge in Aerodynamics, Fluid Mechanics (especially flow separation control), Renewable Energy & Energy Harvesting, and Heat Transfer, which he shares through teaching and research. He also served as a research fellow at the NASA- Supported Aerospace Center, USA. During his tenure at KUET, he excelled in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; he conducted courses at the USA university, conducting courses independently with a strong commitment to academic excellence. His Presence and Leadership as the Project Lead will be inspirational and essential, ensuring the project runs smoothly and achieving all milestones effectively.

Dr. Quazi Hamidul Bari is a senior Professor with extensive research experience in the Department of Civil Engineering, KUET. Prof. Bari’s most notable research elds are wastewater engineering, water pollution control, low-cost water supply and sanitation, solid waste management, environmental geo-technology, modeling on forced aeration composting of solid waste, high-efficient and hybrid solar desalination. His presence as the expert in this project will be vital to run the activities of this project effectively.

Dr. Kh. Mahbub Hassan got PhD from the university of Tokyo, Japan and afterwards he was a Post-Doctoral fellow at the same prestigious university. Prof. Hassan is also a member of international associate member of the Japan Society on Water Environment (JSWE). His notable research interests are water pollution & its control for sustainable development, fecal sludge management & treatment (constructed wetland, drying bed, septic tank, pit-toilets, etc.), environmental impact assessment (EIA) & environmental management plan (EMP), arsenic contamination of groundwater in Bangladesh and its treatment, food & water sustainability in Asia, climate change impacts on water-environment in coastal Bangladesh.

Dr. Md. Shahjahan Ali is a senior professor with extensive research expertise in the Department of Civil Engineering, KUET, and Scientific Supervisor of the Knowledge Transfer Hub and Awareness Centre (Collaboration With KCC) of SCIP Plastics Project.He has been serving as the Director of Institute of Disaster Management (IDM), KUET. Prof Shahjahan’s field of research includes Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Hydraulics, River Engineering, Dredging & Dredged Material Management, River training, Drainage Design, Numerical simulation, and Mathematical Modelling, LIF-PIV-LDA-ADV Experiments, Climate Change Impact and Adaptation, Coastal Hazard and Coping Methods. His presence will ensure the effective execution and smooth progression of the project’s activities.

Dr. Md. Rokonuzzaman completed his Master's and Ph.D. degrees from Japan after getting a Government Scholarship and is a Senior Professor with comprehensive research expertise in Geotechnical Engineering at KUET. He is working as the Scientific Supervisor of the Assessment of Landfill and he is looking after the Accounts & Finance Section of SCIP Plastics Project. Prof. Rokonuzzaman's primary research interest is understanding of geotechnical problems through physical and numerical modeling. His involvement in the project will ensure the successful execution of the project’s activities.

Md. Noor Alam works as Expert of Waste Lab & Secretary (Administrative) of SCIP Plastics Project in the Department of Civil Engineering of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET). He received his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from KUET in 2013, where his major field was Transportation Engineering. The main focus of his research is transportation. He is waiting to achieve M.Sc. in Engineering (Disaster Management) from KUET. He has worked in different sectors of civil engineering in Roads, Buildings, and Water Treatment Plants in various Government & Foreign Funded projects under National & Multinational Companies.

Ananya Sarker is working as Secretary (Technical) of SCIP Plastics Project in the Department of Civil Engineering of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET). She received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Civil Engineering from KUET in 2016 and 2022, respectively where her major field was Environmental Engineering. The main focus of her research is on water, sanitation, Tidal River Management (TRM), fecal sludge management (FSM) and plastic waste management.

Sourav Saha is working as Lead of Working Group-I Assessment of Secondary Transfer Station of the SCIP Plastics Project & M.Sc. student at the Civil Engineering Department at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET). He completed his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering degree from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) in 2017. He is pursuing his research in the fields of Environmental Engineering, Geo-environmental Engineering, and project management. He has eight publications in several international conferences and one of his papers received the IconSWM-Springer Excellent Paper Award in 2017. Apart from this, he has successfully completed three projects under the Roads and Highways Department and Bangladesh Army (24 ECB) respectively in Bangladesh.

Saptarshi Mondal is graduated from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology just recently.He currently employed for SCIP Plastic Project as a Research assistant.His primary interest is research. Research-wise, he is mostly interested in the Landfill sector. His undergraduate study topic was also related to the Landfill industry. Thus, He is presently in his own sector of interest.

Abdullah Al Hasan is a Research Associate and the Group Lead of Working Group II:Assessment Recycling Shops. He has over two years of expertise in environmental science, disaster management, and sustainable development. With a strong academic background, including a B. Sc. in Environmental Science and Disaster Management from Patuakhali Science and Technology University and a completed M.Sc. in Sanitation project titled “Evaluation of Hygiene Practices in Plastic Recycling Shops of Khulna City” from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Abdullah Al Hasan combines research and practical fieldwork to address critical challenges in mismanaged plastic waste management. Their work focuses on designing and implementing innovative solutions for the plastic recycling sector, including the successful development of a pilot business model in Khulna City to manage mismanaged plastics. The initiative has contributed to improved waste management practices and environmental sustainability by integrating informal recycling stakeholders. Mr. Hasan is skilled in data analysis, statistical problem-solving, and using tools such as Python to generate actionable insights. Their ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, from grassroots recyclers to municipal authorities, ensures collaborative success and long-term impact. Passionate about sustainability, Mr. Hasan combines strategic thinking with hands-on expertise to drive meaningful change in waste management systems.

Tanvir Ahmed, Working as Research Assistant in Working Group II: Recycling Shop (RS) Assessment, SCIP Plastics Project, Department of Civil Engineering, KUET. He is a dedicated individual with a profound passion for environmental engineering, and holds a B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, India, earned in 2023. He is presently enrolled in KUET to receive an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a major in Environmental Engineering. His academic journey reflects a commitment to exploring critical issues within his field, evident through his undergraduate thesis focus on the assessment of household drinking water and the evaluation of potential human risk in Rourkela, India. Furthermore, his internship experience in the construction of RCC road in KUET campus is a practical engagement in the civil engineering sector. His profound interest in environmental engineering drives his quest to make meaningful contributions to sustainability and safety across various domains.

Pangkaj Kumar Mahanta completed his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering degree from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) in 2015. He also received his M.Sc. in Civil Engineering degree in the field of Geo-Environment from KUET in 2018. He has recently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in the Department of Civil Engineering at KUET. He is pursuing his research in the field of environment and Geo-environment. He has one publication in Journal and four publications in several international conferences.

Syeda Tasnova Imam is graduated from Islamic University of Technology in 2022.She is currently working as a Research Assistant in the SCIP Plastics Project. Her undergraduate thesis topic was “Variations in air quality before, during and after COVID -19 and impacts of air pollutants on construction materials in Dhaka city”. Research-wise, she is mostly interested in the Landfill sector. Hence, she is working in her own sector of interest.

Md Tushar Ali is currently employed as a Research Assistant (RA) in the SCIP Plastics project, where he focuses on predicting and measuring landfill gases. His work involves exploring innovative methods to understand and mitigate the environmental impact of waste management practices. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from KUET. With a keen interest in advancing scientific knowledge, he has good experience in evaluating and utilizing various sensor technologies that help to assess the heat island effect by Civil Engineering structures. He is dedicated to contributing meaningful insights to the field of environmental engineering through his research endeavors.

Engr. Motiur Rahman is the Expert Coordinator, of Mongla Port of the SCIP Plastics Project and Executive Engineer of Mongla Port Authority. He graduated with a BSc in civil engineering from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET). He works with the Working Group of Case Study at Mongla Port. He coordinates with the Working Group regarding their research activities, Data Collection, and Program Execution. His involvement in the project will ensure the effective execution and perfect achievement of the project milestones.

Her principal research interest is the critical analysis of shipped-generated plastic wastes in rivers within the Mongla Port area and their impact on biota and aquatic life. He is presently enrolled in KUET to receive an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a major in Environmental Engineering. He has had one of his research papers (Simple Ceramic Filter) approved for publication in the ICPACE-2023, RUET conference. His research interests concentrate in the area of Environmental Engineering (Waste Management, Water Treatment, Policy Making, Plastic Waste).
